My Own Coaching Experience:
From personal experience I know that if you have been struggling for years with compulsive eating issues, having support to move beyond them is vital. Yes, it’s absolutely possible to do it on your own, but it’s much faster and far more enjoyable with assistance. In terms of my own process, having a coach was crucial to my healing. Having experienced her own compulsive relationship with food, my first coach was able to identify with everything I had experienced, which was integral to my ability get past my embarrassment around my binges and distorted relationship with food. She gave me experienced guidance as to how to transcend my addictive behaviors and reach my healthiest weight and was a voice of encouragement and reason that I heard even between our sessions.
Why It Makes Perfect Sense to Have a Coach:
Most of those individuals who have excelled in one or more areas of their lives have had a coach to help them reach their goals, whether it’s a professional athlete, artist, writer or musician. They became masters in various arenas because someone not only believed in them, but actively helped them to reach their dreams. Coaches give you expert guidance based upon extensive personal experience, support you in seeing your ability and push you (gently in this case) far beyond what you knew you were capable of achieving. Developing a healthy relationship with your body so that you can live at your healthiest weight for a lifetime is a goal that will serve you powerfully in every area of your life, and having a coach to assist you in reaching your vision is a wise choice.
